sat july 10 2010 - pancake breakfast, cruise, etc

sun july 11 2010 - victoria volksfest show at gyro park

last year a bunch of us mainlanders met in tswassen early sat morn and took the ferry, cruised into victoria just in time for the pancake breaky, cruised the town, partied at the host hotel and enjoyed a great show on sunday. let's do it all over again and get more people over this time around!!

let's remember that the island folks always make a point of supporting our shows so lets return the favour and show them some love! plus they're great hosts and it makes for a fun weekend!!

Great video, can't wait to make the trip again this year, was a great great time. Maybe this time Kevin will be able to sleep in his own bug instead of snuggling with Shawn in his!

Hey guys.  Looking forward to seeing some Mainlanders at our event again this year.  It was great that you made the trip over last year, and this year we've ordered better weather!  I've finally updated that link from the first posting, so check it out.  Host Hotel info is there now and full schedule.  It's all pretty similar to last year (why mess with a good thing?) so it should be a fun event!

if anyone is interested in some extra-curricular activities after the cruise to francellis on saturday night...

The Malahat Revue (one big band featuring Said The Whale, Hannah Georgas, Jeremy Fisher and Aidan Knight...see below for links to tunes) will be playing at Sugar Nightclub in Victoria on Saturday July 10th. 9pm. Tix $18 in advance.

this is a little side project put together by some talented up & coming local musicians. the band will be playing tunes from each one of thier playlists so it should end up being a kind of best of/greatest hits type of thing. their plan is to tour the mid/south end of vancouver island (with stops on pender & saltspring island) by bike and finish off in vancouver at the folk festival!! their gear will be hauled in a van but apart from that it's pedal power, baby!!

Sugar Nightclub is close to the host hotel & it looks like there is a nice big parking lot beside it so we could start our own little show & shine if we like. :D

allthough it's a little pricey...it'll be well worth it to catch all these amazing acts together at one venue at the same time and it should make for a really great show!!

we just booked our room at the host hotel for saturday night. in order to get to the pancake breaky in time we'll be catching the 7am ferry on saturday morning & returning on the 7pm ferry on sunday night after the show & some sightseeing.

just like last year...if anyone is into meeting at the mcdicks in tswassen at 6am and heading to the ferry from there at 615am sharp...post up!!!

let's do this people...who's in...? :D

victoria volksfest 2010 was a blast!! big thanks to all the people that went above & beyond to make us mainlanders feel welcome!! what an incredible weekend!!

really nice to see some locals over there...shawn, kevin, rebecca, dave "thefrenchy" & his family, clay & his family, bruce, steve...lori & i really dug hanging out with you all!

and a big hearty congrats to shawn for winning his class! good game!! :cool:
