1800 engine to possible kit car project?
« on: March 13, 2014, 12:34:24 AM »
Alright, I figured I might as well get around to posting something. Not exactly a good introduction, but better than nothing, eh?

I've recently purchased an 'orphaned' 1800 engine out of a '74 bus. The previous owner had uninstalled it from their bus, in order to do some body restoration. Unfortunately, the project never even got started and the bus ended up getting crushed, sans engine. The engine, then, then sat in storage for the past few years prior to me buying it.

Since then, I've bolted on a starter and tested turning over. So far I haven't seen any problems. Before I do a proper test run, I want to go over and give everything a good cleaning of all the dirt and grime that had collected and dried on it. (Its kind of hard to tell in the pictures)

Ultimately, I've been thinking of building something of a kit car with it. I've kind of got my mind set on a mid-engined 2 seater similar to the 914, which had also used the 1800. Probably a donor car frame, or I'll have to make my own.
