I haven't really been looking at purchasing a bus for too long now (was on the eurovan / vanagon band wagon, but am now also considering a bay-window), but wow, the prices of bay windows sure have risen a lot as of late!
I remember browsing the samba about a decade ago and clean rust free Arizona and California buses were $5-8k. Now they are in the $20's!
I just missed a nice little project 1972 bus on craigslist for $500 (wonder if someone scooped this up on the site), but typically rusty runners are in the $5k plus range locally!
Just my observation.
Cheers!

Bays have been at those prices the past 3-4 years for a good one. Getting tough to find a local one in good shape. Seattle still has good ones turn up every now and then.

Yes! This is what surprised me! I haven't really paid much attention to the prices over the past decade and it was just kind of a shocker!
Its nice to see some later model metal getting some respect they deserve!

Bay prices have definitely increased significantly the last few years. I am sure there are many reasons for this, but I believe the "baby boomers" are driving these prices skyward. They have significant disposable income, many have time on their hands and they grew up with these vehicles. So price is not a concern to them and that why we are seeing $30k+ bays on the market.
I don't expect Bay prices to reverse any time soon, but would I be surprised if they caught up to the split window prices. Maybe its time to hedge and buy some Vanagon's (except for the Westy Syncro's of course which are already insanely priced)?
I also saw that 72 on craigslist. I hope who ever bought it does not use it as a parts vehicle. It looked like a great deal!!

I thought that would be a good not for sale price. Looks like $50,000.00 is the new price. Lol
