"I'm outta here" said the jet to the carb...
« on: October 05, 2009, 06:48:12 PM »
Among other pre-inspection work, I finally got around to pull the carb(30-PICT-3) off my Bus for a rebuild as I was suspecting clogged accelerator pump. Pulled the top off and look what's missing...

Accelerator pump jet has emigrated, hopefully a while ago.
I also noticed that the connecting linkage completely fell off of the accelerator pump!  :o
Before I ask a few questions, a short history.

- Got the bus from Oregon in mid July.
- bus came with mistery engine that was a 70 long block using all the bits(tin etc) from the original 69.
- on the way from Oregon I noticed slight hesitation off idle which progressively got worse, rendering the bus drivable only at near and wide open throttle by the time I got to Vancouver. It wouldn't idle anymore either. The power was very decent though.

Now, the missing accelerator pump jet would make it hesitate under partial throttle, yes? But, would the bus even run at all with that linkage disconnected? I'm trying to establish the timeline here.

And... anybody has this jet and willing to part with it? I'm also missing the clip/hardware that holds the pump linkage connected:

Check your spark plugs for proper gap. And brass.

It's an insane world out there... and I'm proud to be part of it!

when i was dealing with my kadrons i came across some site that claimed all pict carbs use the same jets,( actual brass thingy, not orofice size),  no matter what years or carb sizes. i never went to see if its true though
the customer is always wrong
