I know nothing about rebuilding engines!! Can I still use the same 1600 block for a 1914cc? Is there alot of machining to do? Do I need to get new heads or can I modify the 1600 heads? I sure could use some advise.Been to too many car shows lately, now I want a little faster bug!!

I am no expert but this will get you started.

For 1914 you need to machine the block for 94cc P/C and while you are at it, you will need it to be full flowed and probably some other stuff (200.00-300.00+). You minus well get dual port heads and at the least some kadrons (IDF or Dells prefered) and a cam that will suit your planned use for the bug. If you go up in horse power, you may want to look at your trany and your tires. You will also want to ensure that with more power, you have likewise stopping power.

I order for the Gurus to give you advice the need some information, i.e.

What you got now? 1600 (carb, muffler, cam, )

What kind of power you want?

What do you use the car for (daily, weekends, track)?

How much do you want to spend?

Good luck

1914 is def the best bang for the buck but if you want some decent power buy some good heads. I would recommend some cb performance 044 heads to start with. If this is a daily driver I would use a mild cam like an engle 120 or 125 but if you get ratio rockers go for a k8. A mild long block should cost around 2000-2500 plus carbs and exhaust. Ive built a few big motors and really like 1914cc motors for daily drivers, for street/strip applications go larger like a 2275 or 2332
