Nice clean 1200cc 40hp engine case - December 1962
« on: May 27, 2018, 10:19:45 PM »
Thought I was going to build this one, but I scooped a formula vee motor on a D block that I'm building as a spare for my beetle.

Nice shape, appears to be standard all around - the main bearings were still tight in the case and the cam bores look great so it may not even need to be machined.
Not corroded - one of the best I've seen other than the NOS case I built my first motor on, all studs are good (head studs are out, none pulled when torqued before disassembly).  It does have a mashed plug on the front where it covers the oil pickup tube gallery that will need to be extracted in order to clean it out.

This is a December 1962 case #7395561.

I'll take $150, or I'll trade for a June 1963 production case #7852564 through #7893117 in comparable shape.

pm me your email for pictures.
