Saturday September 11 Porsche Show & Shine...
Concours Extra-Lite!
370 Porsche enthusiasts converging on Sun Peaks from all over North America for the annual PCA Escape on Sept. 9-12, 2010. The event is the low key alternative to the famous Porsche Parade and is held at a different location in North America each year. In 2009 our club, the Canada West Region of PCA submitted the successful bid to host the event and we’ve been working hard to organize a “gotta be there” Porsche event since then.We will have VIPs from Porsche AG, Porsche Canada, most of the exec of the PCA, Nancy and Al Raine and hundreds of Porsche nuts taking part in golf, tours, banquets and of course our Show ‘n Shine of at least 120 Porsches of every type. It’s the Show ‘n Shine you want to know about I’m sure and it will be spectacular. On the Saturday we fill the Sun Peaks village with shiny cars and give everyone the chance to vote for their favourites. This isn’t a Concours but we do give people pointers on what to look for as they do their own judging. Awards are presented at the evening Gala Banquet.
For Escape we are putting on a show and shine that might be referred to as "Concours Extra-Lite!" This laid-back event gives you the opportunity to show off your vehicle in a beautiful setting where Escape attendees and other Sun Peaks visitors will vote for their favourites. No need to spend hours with the white gloves and Q-Tips, just give her a quick clean at one of the wash stations provided.
On Saturday morning you will park with the other participating cars along the cobblestone walks in the centre of the village where fellow Porsche enthusiasts, as well as the general public, can circulate to check them over. In keeping with the low-stress objective for Escape, the show and shine for this event will not be a judged event but will have awards presented based on the popular vote of those viewing the display. Prizes in the assorted groups and special categories are awarded at the Saturday banquet.
“The Show'n Shine display is the most visible event in the Sun Peaks village and is ideally situated as we are able to park throughout the village, alongside the many eateries and boutiques.” Updated: March 12, 2010
