M-Code & Campers?
« on: May 14, 2015, 08:36:25 AM »
Does the M-code identify buses destined for camper conversions? I believe it would for Westfalia's as they were authorized by VW, but what about Safare, Adventurewagen, Dorper, Riviera, etc.....

Thanks.

Nope, except Westfalia it just says it's another bus on the boat to North America and what region or port it's headed for, once they got to the dealer they could have been be sold to any old customer, end user or reseller camper converter.

Thanks for the info.

I am considering buying an Advenurewagen that used a deluxe model van to camperize. The interior is gutted but it has the high top roof that I would replace with a tin top. Being the "purist" I am I did not want to buy one that had an m-code indicating that it was an Adventurewagen. Now if I was to buy it, I would not feel bad about putting it back to its original state.

AW, Riv, Sundial, Sportsmobile, etc... all got whatever the dealer had, preferrably panels or Kombi's but if sales were hot any bus (even a deluxe) would do. Then there's also the owner who decided he wanted to get in on the new Vanni'n craze and go camping and that deluxe didn't have the accomodations for a night in the great outdoors, most camper outfits would also happily convert a drive in customers bus.
