Horn Not Horny
« on: June 10, 2009, 09:28:05 PM »
Hey guys, I have to get my provincial inspection on my new bug tomorow morning and I cant get the darn horn to work. It`s a 6v system. I have power to the wires at the horn with the ignition on. Other than a buggered horn I1m not too sure what else to check :S I really need to get this figured out tonight so I can pass Inspection so I can get it ready for the Fathers day cruise

Thanks in advance..... Shawn

Do you have a steering column ground cable installed?

Here's some info, probably more than you will ever need, about VW horns.

Hey dude, did ya take the horn off and hotwire it to see if it works? Mine didn't, but even when I replaced it I still had to sort out wiring. Damn horns, wish I was there to help ya!

Sorry for the double post, but I thought I'd add this sample inspection sheet since you said you weren't sure what else to look for. Obviously some stuff on here is N/A but everything on the list must be in good working order. Have fun! I know these inspections frustrate the hell outta me!
