Convertible Roof Adjustment?
« on: October 04, 2007, 08:05:45 AM »
On my 68 beetle convertible, the roof seems to be extra tight when coming down to the windshield when I'm trying to close it. I thought there was an adjustment to add some slack in it, and don't want to pull too hard down and tear anything. It's the original roof so getting older..... (aren't we all?)
thanks

Convertible Roof Adjustment?

You can loosen the J-hooks a turn or 2 .Even if the top is a few years old ,it will still stretch.Watch how the front windscreen pillars flex when you latch the top down, they flex like crazy! There are other adjustments you can make but they are done when you replace the top(and only by someone who understands the process).
