Being quite new to aircooled cars I'd just some of your sage advice on my oil leak problem. I have a 67 Beetle with a 1600 dual port engine that is running a single solex. The engine is stock. Seems that after I patched the holes in my push rod tubes the oil started pouring out of the valve covers, which previously were tight & clean. after much fiddling with the shape of the bail wire, hammering the valve covers and even using liquid gasket & making a big mess. I then found different valve covers & new seals. They continued to leak, but with a significant improvement.
I cleaned all the surfaces before each atempt at re-assembly. The engine is running 10w30 at this time. Also the breather on the neck of the oil fill stem is clear & seems to do its job. I have been told to check my case breather lines. How would I go about doing that? Those are the lines running back into the intake manifold correct? I think I may be getting blowpast? possible? The oil was quite literally Spraying out from the bottom of the valve covers when the leak started. So there is quite a bit of pressure.
