new guy, media blasting in the okanagan
« on: November 14, 2010, 05:02:37 PM »
hi guys
new guy here today and first post. Just thought i would introduce myself. my name is Chris Fryer and I own Super clean soda and media blasting, I am located in Salmon Arm we blast here but i am portable so i can travel to your project if its not easily moveable.  I use different types of media depending on the project. soda, glass, walnuts and garnet. I have access to more medias for special reqests too.   i have new equipment and can tackle almost any job, I am a car guy and understand what it takes to blast properly.

my two main media preferences are soda and crushed glass.  soda does not build heat and will not warp, distort or etch any substrate. you can leave glass, wiring and even the engine in it without causing any harm.      we can now blast engines caked with years of baked on oil without ruining seals or putting glass or sand inside a engine

all of my media is silicate free and enviromentally friendly

glass i use for any rust spots floors or anything else that will not warp under pressure.

thanks and please check out my site.  If you have any techinical questions please ask even if your not in the market to blast yet.

thought i would post some pics.
soda is a great media as it will not warp large panels, hood is off a triumph, normal blasting media would have warped it beyond repair.   cowl and firewall and before and after of the same car.
I love doing cars but we also do a wide variety of jobs, from graffti removal to monument cleaning to log home blasting. we do it all.

we are just setting up a advertising deal for Super Clean on AirSpeed and i will be offering member discounts on blasting. small parts/ mail order/bus arent a problem either

we can even strip paint off a coke can!!

can is full     i can do a empty can but sometimes it will make small divits in the aluminum. A pop/beer can is approx 0.0038" thick so it doesnt take much to warp it.  works great if you want to hide your beer.

blasted Getgeoff's pan a couple weeks ago. he will have some better pics i would think but here's what it looked like after. no major surprises, covered the tunnel holes to keep as much media as we could out of it.

that was my first pan that i have done. that being said I can say as long as your pans dont have any major undercoating i can do it for 250-300 both sides   Geoff's was $250.   Undercoating will slow down the blasting alot.

doesnt get much better than that!!

thought you guys may like this one.   aluminum V8 rover (buick) cyl head  customer wanted it cleaned and obvously hot tanking doesnt work. Soda blasted. soda is water soluble so jet wash or pressure washer and all the soda is gone.  surface isnt reprofiled either.

Just got my cleaned engine tin back from Chris. Nicely boxed and wrapped for the trip home from the Okanagan. Have to unwrap it all and decide what to do next! :)

some pics of a 38 chevy i did last weekend.  walnut blasted. pretty clean car for 73 yrs old. same process as soda blasting.   took 6hrs on the complete outside body (body, doors, fenders, hood, t-lid, grill ect) plus firewall, door jambs, inside of doors and dash.

Hey guys. Just used Chris for blasting again today (for the thirtieth time) Again, top notch work and fair prices. He knows what he can push it with and what he can't. Professional attitude and a great guy to work with. If you need someone for blasting in the Okanagan I'd recommend him in a second!
