Sunvisors for 1973 super beetle
« on: February 10, 2019, 11:47:34 AM »
Does anybody have sunvisors for sale that will fit a 73’ Super Beetle? Tried the ones from California Imports and they weren’t quite the right size.

I measured the ones on my 73 super.  The body of the visors are 41cm at their greatest width and 18cm at the widest depth point, which was close to the center, adjacent to the mirror.  They are wider at the center sides and less so nearer the doors. These are original to the car.  Sorry I do not have the OE part numbers.

If it were me, I would ask a vendor to measure their offerings.   Did you get the EMPI or TMI ones from CIP?

And, if the CIP ones do not fit correctly, send them back.

Thanks! I just checked their website again and couldn’t find any listed for a Super Beetle. Thanks again for the dimensions, just have to keep searching for a pair that fits!

They were the EMPI visors if that makes any difference

For new ones, check with Wolfsburg West.

If you can wait a few weeks, I can check to see if any came with my '73 super. I won't be use them in the build.

I also have a 1973 standard beetle.  I measured the visors, which are also original to the vehicle.  The width of the visor is 15cm at its greatest depth point, 3cm less than the super.

Wolfsburg West does not appear to sell a visor for the super, only the super convertible with a 151 prefix part #.  Are they the same?  Might be worth an email to them.

Just a little addendum.  Concept 1 lists their EMPI 65-77 sedan and 73-79 convertible beetle sunvisors as not being for super beetle of any year.  At least they are up front about it.

Thanks so much for the help everyone! And if you have an extra pair I’d definetly be interested. Doesn’t have to be super quick, the cars in the shop at the moment getting the new floor pans and battery tray put in. Let me know if you got em!! Thanks again
