Semaphores

hi
I have 2 semaphores and the one won't work but the other will, but i need to lift it up until the little pin comes out the bottom and hits the little curve plate below the solenoid. do you guys know why it has to go to there? any info on fixing them would be good.

thanks
matt

The pin touching the contact below the solenoid is needed to complete the cct to light up the indicator in the speedo.  This tells you that the semaphore actually made it up.

Have you tested the resistance of the coil of the non-functioning one with an ohm meter?

If the pin touching the tab helps the semaphore arm go up, it is not connected right.  You need to check the ground of the backbone of the semaphore to the body.  It sounds like it is grounding through that tab.
