More Leaking Oil Questions
« on: June 19, 2006, 02:37:47 PM »
Hey gang,

I just noticed yesterday when I was working on the bug (1966 - 1300) that I was leaking oil.
It happened when it was cold not running. I had it jacked up to remove the rear wheels (checking the breaks.
When I set it back down ( and of course it was still sitting kinda high ) and came back after a couple of minutes, I noticed it was dripping, very little but nonetheless dripping out of the front (trans.) of the case.

Any ideas where its coming from and why ? I want to take it to the show but not if she's going to pop  :o

Thanks
Todd

There's a vent hole on top of the trans. at the front. If you had it really high up pointing downhill and you have an extra full tranny it could leak. Could also come from a sloppy shifter shaft.

Have a look for a wet spot on top of the front nosecone cover or under the shift shaft.
