i was just wondering what the differences are between these to distributers, and how much a 010 might cost? and what you guys would prefer?

i have a 009 on my motor and i'm thinking of changing it, its a 1914cc with dual dells, is a 009 good for this motor? I think its making my car run crappy in midrange rpms?

Much faster advance curve with the 010.  There is tons of discussion about the two all over the net.

if you are saying your car runs poorly in midrange and you have set the timing correctly with a 009 at 3500 rpm to get a full 32-34 deg advance shown at the pulley.it would not matter what dist you have in there if the total advance is in .it is in.you will need to look elsewhere.
best to recheck thing in this order.valve adjustment/plugs [colour and condition]/compression/ignition then nail your carbs.

My mallory had the timing all in at 2500 rpm, huge improvement over stock unit.  I also had dells and found that I had to use a fatter idle jet to compensate the somewhat lean transition between the idle to main jet. I had a 60 idle, up from 55, and a  140 main, with a 34 venturi on my 71 x 94 motor.  My  timing was set to 13 degrees idle and 28 degrees full advance  all in at 2500 rpm.

thanks billy for your responce on the stf i new i had the info somewhere but thanks for the quicker info.my car after its latest motor upgrades ran very poor in the of idle to 2800 rpm range.after looking at my data i was amazed.
at present i'm using a 75 idle.dellortos need big idle jets in order to feed the big transition ports which give that nice drivability.now myself as well i can put allover town with no problem.just needs the finr tune now
