Post by: Bullyboy on August 27, 2006, 10:59:03 AM
I'm looking for the adapter fittings to go from the stock metric bubble fitting to the 1/8\"NPT on the hurst roll control.
Been all over town, no luck

I'm one of those people, too.

When I installed the line loc, I relaced the brake lines at the same time. I went to the local parts store (Lordco?), and bought a nice mix of SAE and metric lines. Cut one end off, and reflared, so the brake lines have one SAE flare nut, and one metric flare nut.

Hooray! New lines, and no adapters.

Plus less connections equals less chance of leaks...

SAE fitting ends still don't get the job done.
The threads in the solenoid body are NPT

Now I have the adapters from NPT-SAE no problem.
Just have to come up with the flaring tool to do the lines.

I recall the adaptors I installed on Rick's car were M10x1 VW flare to NPT.  Got those adaptors from Airspeed.

I took your advice and purchased a metric brake line, cut it to length and double flared the end for an SAE brake fittings.  The Hurst Line-Lok is now plumbed in.

Next step is the wiring.  I have no idea where the button should be installed.  I have an original Hurst shifter in my 1973 convertible.  Please post pictures of where you mounted your roll-control button.  Ideas on how to run the wires through the firewall would also be helpful.

I'm looking forward to burning the rubber off my eight spoke tires, 'cuz I've just bought 4 - 17x7 OEM Boxster turbotwist rims with ZR 40 series tires, and I told myself I need to destroy the 15\" set before I install the 17\" set.

Do you still have your vert? I see that you are in Quesnel now - if so my next trip up lets have a beer!

James, thanks for the picture of your setup.  It looks like you have more than just the Line-loc switch on your shifter.  Does that black handle activate the switch, or is it the reverse gear lockout?

Yes, I still love my '73 'vert.  Today I'm changing out the McPherson strut springs for CRX springs on an eccentric cup so that I can fit the new 17" Porsche wheels and rubber under the fenders.  I have just finished painting the four disk brakes and will be installing them as well.  I hope to be burning some of that new rubber off by next weekend.

I bought a new espresso maker from Starbucks, so when you drop by I'll treat you to one (or more) of my famous coffees.

I made a fitting that's a female 10mmx1.0 bubble flare X male 1/8" npt.  If I don't carry it at work, I just make it.  I found it easier to convert everything to SAE, rather than fight the metric head ache.
