Filling the gap. 73 T1 engine conversion
« on: September 08, 2016, 07:50:26 AM »
I am installing a typ1 motor in my 73 westie
The engine opening is huge and I have a significant gap between the tin and the chassis.
I heard of car craft Fiberglas conv soon kits.  Does anyone make a true tin kit?

There are no new all steel surround tins available that I'm aware of, the genuine VW ones turn up now and then but are usually rusty as hell or very pricey, the fiberglass ones work great. No doubt you've seen this already: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=483408

Yes I've seen. They have the market cornered. They sure are proud of it @250 plus shipping
You would think the is a fairly common conversion and someone would have come up with a true tin kit
I called to see if I they would sell them seperate. No was the answer

So
