Blower Question 2
« on: March 02, 2004, 07:13:09 PM »
So now that i have the blower, Im thinking 2180cc Superflow heads, and a winning lotto ticket.
It is off the the races! What would be the best way to achieve this combo? Any draw-backs like 1835 wall thickness??  or just buy one of airspeeds stroker blocks?
would like to start soon, or at least think that i am?
Thanks

If your going to run high boost think about good studs! and even a alum case.
That blower is a comon adaptation onto a VW motor (see dick landy on the net) Not all set ups work well but with a little research this could be a great set up.

Dean Lowry used to sell a kit in the early 70's with a similar blower.

Keep us posted how it comes along.

Blower Question 2

seams your at the stage where you need too do alot of research,i think if you are going too attempt this type of set up it is going too take a huge amount of fabrication as well as trial and error, forced induction opens up a whole bunch of new rules in ignition as well as engine desighn.i also have a blower/compressor which i would like too use in the near future.its a roots type with a electronic clutch ,has big possibilities .i have also been looking into deceleation boost control ,which i'm sure once you research your project you will find this needed .the system i have uses a electronic valve that will allow pressure that is built up  too be redirected back to the intake on decell.here is my plan.don't tell anyone.911 cooling system [needed for space],compressor mounted beside 911 fan, intercooler mounted beside right rear wheel torssion area.system blows down onto 2 48 dellortos.once i get my car rolling again i think i might start mocking this upin the garage.
i'm glad too see your pumped up on the idea, don't let anyone tell you it can't be done.be patient and take no short cuts.because the one you take may be the cause  of a expensive lesson.good luck keep us posted.

Blower Question 2
« Reply #4 on: March 03, 2004, 11:41:52 PM »
Well hopefully this all works(for cheap) lolololoollo
wishfull thinking!
Here is my new question, old school technology, 7.5 to 1 comp
old case machined or new as41?
stk modified heads or buy superflow?
(have machine shop at my beck and command)
i already mocked one engine, i have built the following
Serpentine belt set up in billet, manifold,
So from here this will fit any dual port.
My plans for this engine is the summer driver/ fri night drags for fun.
low boost, I dont want rods draggin on the ground............yet..........
MSD 6AL with timing adjuster, i incorparated a powermaster sprint alt for 105 amps
Just would love to know what parts to look at : like cb rods? scat crank? titanium valves? what works for you guys? Big question i know, Most Blowers were built around stock motors with low compression
The blower is what does the work, But a motor is built on its parts, So I want to put the right parts in!
Thanks Steveo_32

Build it strong....and it will last!
A nice forged or welded crank, also think about wedgemating IF you ever want to put slicks on.
Rods, Scat or CB Uni tech are nice as are Eagle/Bugpack?scat race rods
Heads are what makes the power so spend your hard erned $$$ on them. 40x35.5 or 42x37 with stainless valves dbl springs etc
P&C are a no brainer cima mahle....balanced
Cam....well that is going to need some homework but as far as a brand engle is good but the Web cams have a warrenty!
thats a good starting point for ya.
