If you're towing with the towbar you need at least a Temporary Operation Permit.

As nice it is to have the ability to tow ur ride , in my years if experience with resto jobs and vehicles without full insurance , flat bed tow truck or trailer is the best way to go :)

Yes it sure is Brian :) As I usually have  few busses in the yard , having a tow bar will be a lot easier moving them around instead of having to load them on my flat deck .

Haha I just saw that on Facebook , would be nice to have as well but the tow bar is quick and easy , maybe Das Bus could use that for sure :)

Just out of curiosity I had previously checked the ICBC website for towing regs when I purchased a weld on tow bar at princess auto years ago for my 75 westy, returned it shortly after....

What reg does the towed vehicle need? plates? unplated? fire/theft ins? full ins?

As Jerry suggests, are the best for short moves or can they handle highway travel.

Thanks,
Craig.

Great info Craig , I've used my bug tow bar for highway travel and it seemed okay however I have no experience with the bus one yet as they are a lot heavier , guess Chris would know that answer :)

I don't have any experience firsthand but our towbar was used to pull a bus from San Francisco home to the lower mainland,

You can look up all the rules and regulations on the BC Motor Vehicle Code website, but basically the towed car needs to be fully roadworthy and insured as such. I've towed beetles a fairly long way with no issues, but never a bus.

I looked into this a little when freddy was looking to flat tow his bay westy back from the Island.
I believe that the towed vehicle cannot weight more than 1000 kg either or it needs trailer brakes.
BC is really uptight about towing reg's because of those pointy things between you guys and us guys.
I was lucky enough to get one of a limited issue of Chris Murray bus tow bars which were based or JRJ's design, but with some upgrades.
I have towed buses both long and short distances (longest being back from southern Montana to Calgary) with the tow bar with no issues or concerns.
