Title: Leaky wheel cylinders?
Post by: Buggytime on April 07, 2018, 03:19:20 PM
Is there supposed to be brake fluid in the rubber boots on the end of the wheel cylinders?  I just installed new wheel cylinders last year, and now when I pulled the wheels and brake drums off, I found brake fluid in the rubber boots on the end of each wheel cylinder.  I thought it was supposed to stay within the pistons inside the wheel cylinder and not get past.  Do I need new cylinders again?

Thanks for the help.

Possibly, they should be dry under the dust boots. You might get away with taking out the pistons and polishing the bore with fine steel wool, then reassembling using brake fluid or better yet silicone brake grease as a lube.

Thank you, it's all good now.
I replaced the wheel cylinders today.
