Title: The Driveway Mechanic: Painting your wheels
Post by: kinggeorge13 on September 15, 2017, 07:18:02 AM
Ever wanted to paint your rusty wheels but don't have the deep pockets to have them farmed out and get the tires removed and sand-blasted and powder-coated?   You just want your wheels looking nice again but taping the rubber seems tricky and you likely end up with paint spray onto the tire anyway?   Here's a little trick (a card trick...ha ha) I watched being done and I would never have thought of it.   I'm sure some of you will be recoiling right about now with the unprofessional methods but it's cheap and easy and the results were great and we could do it in the driveway (although this picture was in the actual garage but I'd prefer not to slowly be colouring all my garage items with various spray paint colours).

This method does not remove the requirement of course to clean the heck out of the rim and wire-wheel off any rusty spots before you start.
