Powder Coating?
« on: February 03, 2007, 04:39:48 PM »
I have seen a lot of ASF members post pictures of there newly powder coated pans, engine tin, etc... They look awesome, appear to be highly durable and most that I have seen extremely glossy. Correct me if I am wrong but the original pan or engine tin would never have come out that glossy. So as I get closer to needing this service, my question is can you get different degrees of \"glossyness\" in order to try to relicate a more original look? Like a semi-gloss?

Thanks.

Any tips on how to touch up scuffs on powdercoating.
If more power is better. Then too much is just enough.
Why do it once when you can do it thrice?

Use buffing compound ,treat it like paint ,use patience. That's all you need to do

I had Russ do a pan for me in Semi-gloss black, and IMO it looks way better than a full gloss finish.

most colours come in a gloss finish.
although i have black in Matt, satin, semi, gloss and mirror black
so i pretty much cover all the bases satin or semigloss is what i do most of the car parts  in.
it all boils down to personal preference

My first need for powder coating will be my bus motor tin and other engine bits. What prep work needs to be done in order to get a proper surface for the powder coating? Should the tin be sandlasted and/or primered?

Thanks.
