when I was building rails we were using a single two barrel carb they sell a kit at cip1.The less parts and only one float to bounce around a little hard to set up because it causes a flat spot depending what dis. you use

i use a single  weber 40idf on my baja.  in ten years i only had to open it up once due to the float bowl being half full with mud. but it never  gives me grief on the steepest of hills in any direction, and rough jarring never bothers it one bit. it took a bit to get the jets dialed in, but i've never adjusted it once since then. the only downside i would say is that there is a bit of a flat spot off idle ( a single vacc. adv. dist. really helps cure that ) and it can foul the plugs at high altitude if you put around too much. other than that its bulletproof.
