Broken Eng Parts
« on: July 01, 2003, 07:54:45 PM »
Well since i had the day off i thought i'd look to see if the 59's 1835cc motor had a lifter failure on the last cruise to Squamish.
Pulled the valve cover to inspect for lash and sure enough chuncks of metal in the VC. Not a good sign, looks like i'm pulling the motor:-)

Last year i put a new cam in the old 1835cc ( i built that motor back in 1989) shoulda left well enough alone.  I wanted to make sure it was all good on the inside and all i found was worn lifters so i changed the cam and lifters.......................If it aint broke don't fix it.

I think broken/stubby lifters  happens just as much as the habitual act of brushing your teeth. That sucks Geoff but at least it happened to your 59 instead of your oval.  Today I had a 1/2 day at work so I was at the shop installing my RCI belts and removed my inner springs/dampers in my SE heads getting ready for August.
